We are a multi-million pound turnover company working for tier 1 global companies with ambitions for strong growth. We are therefore looking for a dynamic, experienced, flexible Procurement professional to lead and develop this function within a thriving and energetic business.


  • Oversees a small team of Purchasing Agents.
  • Ensure all parts are sourced in full and aligned to production schedules and customer requirements at all times.
  • Manage existing relationships with suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers and have a process in place to measure effective performance, quality and compliance. Measure against KPI criteria you will set up.
  • Select and develop new suppliers.
  • Liaises with key company employees to determine their product and service needs.
  • Negotiate and manage contract terms with suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards and delivery terms with technical and operational input from stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Review and negotiate existing agreements to optimise commercial terms.
  • Ensure that purchasing policies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  • Provide management reports and key performance data and monitor cost savings
  • Ensure purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents are in place and updated when required.

  • Ensure professional and consistent supplier management is applied across the supply base in line with the purchasing policy
  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
  • Monitors business trends and product availability to pay the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times
  • Researches new products and services to meet company’s goals
  • Assesses total costs of company purchases
  • Develops and implements strategies for procuring, storing and distributing goods or services and maintaining stock levels

Key Skills

  • Exceptional Negotiating: You will be working with suppliers to create the best deals. Negotiating skills will be key to creating those deals.
  • Analytical: You will need to work with multiple vendors to determine the best deals for the company, and have to evaluate the many pros and cons of each, based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors.
  • Decision-Making: You will need to use the information gathered by yourself and the purchasing agents to make decisions on behalf of your company.
  • Reporting: You will be required to produce detailed MI reports for the Board and the rest of the business as required.
  • You will ideally have hands on experience of using Microsoft Dynamics Navision tool.

The role will primarily be carried out in the Company’s premises in Bromborough, Wirral; in addition to which frequent visits to suppliers in the UK and overseas will be required.
